Baking with Bernadett: Sourdough 101

JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS - SOURDOUGH CLASSES ARE BACK! Have you never used a sourdough culture? Never kneaded and shaped a bread? Then this class is for YOU! We’ll go through the process step by step. We’ll take a look at what a fully active starter looks like -- because you'll pick up Bernadett's special starter before class. We’ll mix up a dough so you can see how easy it can be. We’ll cover simple shaping techniques. We’ll talk about all the different goodies you can prepare with your starter. Please note that this is a HYBRID class! First, you pick up your sourdough starter at CGS. Then, you follow Bernadett ONLINE as she walks you through the steps in YOUR OWN kitchen. By the end of the class, you’ll have the confidence to bake more wonderful bread with Bernadett’s very resilient sourdough starter! ONLINE class takes place on Zoom on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Sourdough Starter Pickup: PRE-REGISTERED students pick up their dough starter at the Columbus Garden School at the following time: > Friday, December 20, between 4 PM - 6:30 PM. (Contact us ASAP if you need a special pickup time.) PRE-REGISTRATION is REQUIRED if you want sourdough starter. You can attend the class -- without starter -- by registering up to one hour before class. Please note this is a "live" class and is not recorded. INSTRUCTOR: Bernadett Szabo lives in Pataskala, OH on a small herb, flower, and vegetable farm. She was born in Hungary where she spent summers in her grandmother’s gardens. She follows deep organic practices with some biodynamic principles on her homestead. Her business is Bernadett's Farmacy. The Columbus Garden School is located at 1350 E. Cooke Rd, Columbus OH 43224.
